Hot topics at the Webwinkelvakdagen: multi-storefront and multilingual e-commerce

The Webwinkelvakdagen (WWVD) on June 29 and 30 will again offer plenty of inspiration and opportunities for everyone active in the e-commerce industry. There will be all kinds of keynotes and lectures on a wide range of topics, but the long list of exhibitors also guarantees that every visitor can gain new ideas, insights and contacts. There will obviously be a lot of focus on the 'platform economy' and personalization will also be a hot topic, especially given the pressure to move away from 3rd party cookies. However, we expect that multi-storefront combined with multilingual e-commerce will also lead to interesting and productive conversations.

Why multi-storefront?

The concept of multi-storefront e-commerce is rapidly gaining prominence. Partly because it offers huge advantages for entrepreneurs, allowing them to serve a wider audience without having to repeat their investments for each e-commerce site, but also certainly because it is increasingly supported by the major e-commerce platforms. BigCommerce, for example, has now made this possible, making this approach readily available to a large number of businesses already using their platform. Given the presence of implementation partners like Thesio at WWVD, we expect that many visitors will therefore have this topic of discussion on their agenda.

Multi-storefront and multilingual e-commerce

One of the big advantages of multi-storefront growth is that it makes it much easier to set up a multilingual webshop. As we further explain in our whitepaper on multilingual e-commerce, the importance of a multilingual webshop is still underestimated. As research by CSA Research also showed, you lose sales if customers cannot use your webshop in their own language, which perfectly sums up the title of the research: Can't Read, Won't Buy. In other words: a translated e-commerce website may cost money, but if you don't offer the relevant translations for your target audience, it will cost you a lot more money in lost revenue. As this realization dawns on more and more business owners, the enhanced support for multi-storefront comes as a great relief.

Questions about multilingual e-commerce?

We can imagine that it is exciting to have your webshop translated. Fortunately, you are not alone in making that choice: not only is there a lot of online information and the various e-commerce platforms have written manuals on the subject, but you can also request the help of a translation agency! Now, we may be biased, but we can highly recommend anyone who wants to get started with a multilingual webshop to talk to a translation agency.

We are always ready to help entrepreneurs realize the potential of multilingual e-commerce and will also be present at the Webwinkelvakdagen. We cordially invite everyone to come by (for free!) at booth B28, where we will be happy to get acquainted, answer all your questions and help you think about how to boost your e-commerce business with professional translation. Can't make it to June 29 or 30? No problem, just contact us directly to find out how we can help you generate more sales.
